Art Compulsions

I'm Taylor Katzman, a self-taught contemporary artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. My work delves into the complex layers of human emotion through bold and vibrant acrylic portraits and figures, highlighting the subtle nuances of facial expressions and body language. By capturing these silent forms of communication, I strive to forge a deep connection between the viewer and the subject. For me, art serves as a dialogue, igniting meaningful conversations and encouraging introspection, whether through online platforms, pop-up shows, or personal interactions. Inspired by my surroundings, my art reflects my observations and experiences, employing strong contrasts and vivid colors to create impactful pieces. Being self-taught allows me the freedom to experiment with various techniques and mediums, with acrylics often being my preferred choice for their versatility and expressive quality. My work is recognized for its visual strength, drawing attention and conveying the emotional depth of our shared human experiences. By sharing my artistic journey, I aim to cultivate lasting connections and provide a space for viewers to reflect on the emotions and ideas that us together.
